Our day began dark and early today. The distances in Norrland are very great, something that you only appreciate once you're up
here. Much of our morning was spent on a site visit to Abisco - a research station close to the Norwegian border (about as far North
as you can get in Sweden). Here they're studying the effects of climate change on the permafrost layer in the mire areas of the
region (the guy looking like he's poking a stick in the ground is measuring how deep the permafrost is). The bottom pic is my
colleague and I in front of Lapporten, the most recognized landmark in the area.
